AMIFOREST is an Amicorp Community Foundation project committed to minimizing Amicorp Group’s carbon footprint as much as possible. Our goal is to offset our carbon emissions from flying by planting trees. In 2013 we centralized an internal travel booking system which enabled tracking and reporting of all air miles our employees fly.
The project sprung in to life in 2015 when we purchased a 50-hectare property in the Chanco region on the south coast of Chile and designated this for reforestation.
In June of 2018 we started maintenance of the roads leading to the property “Resto del Fundo San Ignacio” and the planting of the first 10,000 trees took place.
In August of 2018 the Amicorp Chile team got their hands dirty and personally kick-started the planting of the first trees. This represented the first 10,000 trees that we intend planting in 2018.
This project drew to a close in late 2023, with more than 18,000 trees planted in that time, significantly contributing to local reforestation efforts and leaving a lasting positive impact on the environment.
Since 2012, Amicorp has been active in the poor northern communities of Bali. Our initiatives to create holistic impact and self-sustainable communities include supporting a sustainable eco-tourism project, funding nursing training and salaries of a medical facility, development of a rainwater harvesting system and more recently, successfully delivering better sanitation to over some 725 families. We built kamar mandis (outhouses complete with latrine and bathing features) that provided health and safety thereby allowing access to more economic and education time to nearly 3,000 of the 8,000 people in the small community of Desa Les.
Following the successful completion of the Kamar Mandi project, we still coordinate ongoing training on use and maintenance of kamar mandis to educate the beneficiaries to its full benefits to ensure maximum returns on investment. We plan to follow up training sessions to assess the extent to which having an enclosed kamar mandi has had on their health and daily life of the recipients.
On May 21 2018, the Amicorp Community Foundation completed another project for Desa Les. Again with a clear focus on the children and young people, on educating them and supporting them towards better lives and livelihoods, ACF built a football field for the children in Les. The field was officially inaugurated with a Balinese Hindu blessing ceremony.
It is to be a place for the younger boys and girls to come and play football (soccer) and for the villagers to use for their special celebrations and other activities throughout the years to come.
Goals 4 Kids is an annual sports tournament held locally on Curaçao in order to help raise funds to support Fundashon Tuma Mi Man in the durable fight against poverty.
